REP: GWYNDOLEN "GWYN" CLARKE-REED
Let me first start by thanking you for having elected me as your voice in Tallahasse for the past two years. It has been a very humbling experience. Just knowing I had been given the chance to write and pass legislation effecting the daily life of the people of this great state is exciting.
My committee assignments were very important for the a betterment of your quality of life. Education, Appropriation , Public Safety Domestic Security, Healthcare, Eldercare, Roads, Bridges and Ports were my committees. I served as the Ranking Democrat on the Health/Family Care Services Policy Committee.
As a freshman legislator I had two bills to pass the legislature and become law. The first bill was about requiring a national background check for persons wanting to change their name for reasons other than adoption or marriage. The second bill required OPPAGA to study the outreach efforts of Florida’s KidCare health program.
Helping to be sure everyone get counted in the Census 2010 effort has taken me into more of the hard to count areas of the district. It is important to me and you that everybody is accounted for. Our federal dollars returned to our cities is very important.
I have worked very closely with the Florida Conference of Black State Legislators and the Haitian members of the black caucus to secure help for Haiti during their time of need.
District 92 is a very unique and diverse area. The make up gives us a wonderful cultural experience. It reflects the changes we are seeing in the new portrait of America. My office has been a resource for many of you. During these hard economic times I have brought lots of information to the district also I attended many of your organization and city meetings/event. I enjoyed all of them and hearing directly from you.

I am asking you to send me back to Tallahassee to continue representing you and your family. There is much work to be done and I know I can continue to be there fighting for the interest of all who live and work here. The knowledge I have acquired makes me the right person for this position. My only job is to be your full time representative in Tallahassee. I continue to be Committed, Concerned, READY TO SERVE.
