REP: GWYNDOLEN "GWYN" CLARKE-REED
For the last six years I have been working very hard in Tallahassee to be sure that the people of district 92 and the rest of this state were well represented in the Florida legislature. Voting on the budgets sometimes for it other times against it has been interesting depending on what effect it would have on the delivery of services to the people.
My bills that were passed always made a better quality of life for the residents and visitors of this great state regardless of their lifestyle. These were bills related to changing your name, getting OPPAGA to study the delivery of services for Healthy Kids program and this year Commercial Parasailing and Recreational Water Activities.
Education, healthcare, housing, in-state tuition, pre-school (VPK), veteran and military affairs issues have been my priorities while in the legislature. Working to change legislation to keep our first time juvenile non-violent misdemeanors offenders from becoming part of the prison pipeline has been a challenge. This is better known as the Civil Citation bill.
The business community has been a focal point also. Jobs and wages are of great importance. We need to have a higher minimum wage in this state. Too many of our workers are classified as the “working poor” and rely on food stamps to feed their families. We must strive to grow our middle class families. People must be able to access the “American Dream.” Home ownership must be revitalized and available to more people. We need strong communities to keep our cities viable.
Re-Electing me to represent district 92 gives you someone who has experience in local government and the state legislature. I have worked with my colleagues on both sides of the aisle to accomplish passing good bills and bringing millions of dollars to the cities, school board, hospital district and the county. I would like you to read my legislative update for more information.
Returning for my last term means I have completed my commitment to serving as you full time representative.
